Atlanta Housing operates several programs and initiatives focused on financial literacy and entrepreneurship to assist families in achieving financial self-sufficiency.
Resident Entrepreneurship Program
A partnership between AH's Supplier Diversity & Inclusion division of the Contracts and Procurement Department and its Human Development Services (HDS) Division, this program supports Atlanta Housing’s Section 3 initiative to provide training, employment or business opportunities to residents meeting HUD’s Section 3 requirements.
The program format features virtual instruction, via Zoom, over six (6) consecutive Saturdays as 2-hour classes, and program topics may include:
- Exploring your talents and passions to start a micro-business
- Creating a Business Plan
- How to source and purchase supplies
- How to competitively price your goods or services
- Marketing 101
- Goal Setting for Success
Participants completing the program are honored at a graduation ceremony featuring keynote speakers and they receive a certificate of completion.
5-Star Tenant Program
The 5-Star Tenant Program provides participants with financial and credit counseling, for the purpose of removing the financial and credit-related barriers to leasing units and preparing them for homeownership.
