Atlanta Housing Hosts U.S. Rep. Nikema Williams for Property Tour
President & CEO Terri M. Lee meets with Congresswoman to discuss strengthening
affordable housing resources
ATLANTA – Atlanta Housing (AH) on Tuesday welcomed U.S. Rep. Nikema Williams (GA-05) for a tour of
multiple AH properties, showcasing the agency’s efforts to create and preserve affordable housing
across the city.
As part of the visit, AH President and CEO Terri M. Lee met with Congresswoman Williams to discuss
opportunities to strengthen affordable housing resources amid what Lee describes as an uncertain
period for federal public housing funding.
“We are constantly working to ensure our partners and elected officials understand what it takes to
keep our residents housed and to ramp up our development pipeline to meet our goal of increasing the
supply of affordable housing to individuals and families in need,” Lee said. “Meetings with
Congresswoman Williams and policymakers are critical to collaborating effectively with Washington to
address the housing affordability crisis not only in Atlanta but nationwide.”
The tour highlighted AH’s active and planned developments, including:
• Englewood in Chosewood Park - a multi-family and senior housing community currently under
construction
• Thomasville Heights – a southeast Atlanta housing development slated for a multiphase
revitalization
• Atlanta Civic Center - future site of mixed-use housing development, with AH expected to close
on financing later this year.
Congresswoman Williams praised AH’s work, noting the urgent need for more affordable, desirable
housing options in Atlanta.
“I hear from constituents often about the lack of affordable, desirable housing in Atlanta,”
Congresswoman Williams said, “I spent the day with Atlanta Housing touring construction sites for
housing developments that serve as the model for addressing the affordable housing crisis. Thank you,
Atlanta Housing, for your partnership to give more than 42k residents of the Fighting Fifth a place where
they can live, work, play, and call home.”
