Atlanta Housing (AH) continues its commitment to empowering its residents with the tools needed for economic mobility and greater lifestyle confidence by tackling the digital divide head-on. In partnership with Inspiredu, AH recently hosted its first digital literacy training session at the Georgia Avenue Highrise, drawing a turnout of 25 senior residents. This initiative marks the beginning of a broader effort to enhance digital literacy across all AH senior properties and expand training opportunities for housing choice voucher participants.

The inaugural session was a resounding success, with enthusiastic participation and high engagement. Every attendee received a laptop, setting the foundation for their digital journey. Future training will expand on popular topics such as using Zoom, accessing medical portals, and exploring additional resources to support seniors in navigating an increasingly digital world.

This partnership with Inspiredu underscores Atlanta Housing’s dedication to equipping residents with resources for success. Through continued collaboration, AH participants will receive digital literacy training both in-person and virtually. Inspiredu has also donated 150 refurbished laptops. Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) participants are being informed about Inspiredu’s pop-up workshops throughout the city, and additional on-site training is being planned at the Lift Zone, Comcast’s flagship digital equity hub located at Inspiredu in Atlanta.

Richard Hicks, CEO of Inspiredu, emphasized the importance of this collaboration:

“Inspiredu is proud to collaborate with the Atlanta Housing Authority to empower their residents through workshops that foster digital literacy and enhance access to technology, bridging the digital divide and creating pathways to success. This partnership exemplifies Inspiredu’s commitment to promoting educational equity and digital inclusion within the Atlanta community.”

Hicks, who founded Inspiredu to address the digital divide in metro Atlanta, is a finalist for Kelly Clarkson’s Good Neighbor of the Year Award. His work has been spotlighted by WSB-TV and “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” amplifying his mission to ensure no family is left behind as technology becomes integral to everyday life.

Atlanta Housing shares this mission and continues to lead in providing innovative solutions that empower residents, equipping them to thrive in today’s connected world.
