February 19, 2024 – Atlanta Housing is pleased to announce the appointment of Dwayne Vaughn, Esq., to Interim Chief Operating Officer and Lisa Washington, Esq., to Interim General Counsel. These appointments are effective immediately.
Dwayne Vaughn has served as Atlanta Housing’s General Counsel for nearly three years, working closely with the Board of Commissioners, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and executive team to provide legal leadership for AH’s affordable housing and human development services initiatives. Before his role as General Counsel, Dwayne served Atlanta Housing for 11 years in various capacities, including Director. For more than two decades, Dwayne has practiced real estate, corporate, employment and civil rights law and spent many years in executive and senior-level positions with housing authorities in the Southeast. Dwayne joined AH in 2021 from Atlanta BeltLine, Inc., where he served as Vice President of Housing Policy and Development. Dwayne earned a bachelor’s degree from Howard University and a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University School of Law.
Lisa Washington has been an in-house counsel with Atlanta Housing for 20+ years, most recently serving as Senior Deputy General Counsel, where she focused on commercial and residential real estate development and finance. Previously, she was an associate with nationally ranked law firm Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis, LLP, which was sole legal counsel for United Parcel Service (“UPS”). She also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia representing the State of Georgia and the Georgia Building Authority in connection with numerous land acquisitions, land swaps and eminent domain transactions that facilitated the expansion of the Georgia World Congress Center. Lisa earned a B.S. in Finance from Georgetown University and a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
