Food Resource Guide
Dear Atlanta Housing-assisted Resident,
We know that news about the federal government shutdown can be concerning. Please know that your housing assistance is not affected at this time, and our priority remains helping you stay housed in quality homes. We also want to help you connect to food and community resources offered by the City or other agencies during this period.
What we know today:
Because the federal shutdown is ongoing, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service has directed states to suspend November 2025 SNAP benefit issuances effective Saturday, November 1, 2025. You may continue to use any existing funds already on your EBT card.
For official updates and to check your balance, use the ConnectEBT website or app, or visit www.dhs.georgia.gov
Where to find food now:
While the State has not released a full plan for SNAP interruptions, there are community resources available today. You can find local food pantries and meal programs by entering your ZIP code at these sites:
- City of Atlanta Resources: atlantaga.gov
- Atlanta Community Food Bank Map: acfb.org/get-help/food-map/
- APS Cares (Food Assistance): search “APS Cares Food Assistance”
- FindHelp: findhelp.org (search “food”)
- FindPantries: foodpantries.org (Atlanta directory)
- Text-to-Find: Text “FindFood” or “Comida” to 888-976-2232 for local options
- 211: Dial 2-1-1 or visit 211.org for food and other assistance
What to do next:
- Check your EBT balance and watch for official updates using the ConnectEBT website or app.
- Plan ahead for essential items if you rely on SNAP.
- Use the enclosed resource list to find nearby pantries, meal programs, and mobile distributions.
- Stay informed through official sources (DHS and AH). We will share updates as they become available.
